America’s oldest African American neighborhood was settled by Free People of Color and is known as the Cradle of the Southern Civil Rights movement. The Treme is home to the Mardi Gras Indians, St. Augustine Church, the oldest Black Catholic Parish in the United States, Louis Armstrong Park, and Congo Square. The neighborhood’s architectural landscape is resplendent in Creole Cottages and colorful Shotguns. Soulful and Authentic, its streets gave birth to Jazz, music that would change the world.

Sorry, no refunds, no cancellations. To receive a full refund, travelers may cancel up to 24 hours before the experience start date in the local timezone. No refunds will be given after that time period. Guests are advised to arrive for tours 15 minutes early. If The Savvy Native cancels a tour, due to extreme weather or any other reason, The Savvy Native will provide a full refund or offer the customer the opportunity to reschedule for another day/time. |
